Ahhh...the protests restore my faith

The anti prorogation rallies across Canada has me pumped. It is easy to believe that people don't care about political issues but evidence as witnessed (short video in this article) across this great land shows people do care....your thoughts on this?
If you want more on the numbers, click here and also realize the potential for social network technologies (like facebook) to get the 'word' out!

  1. I think its inspriing to know people still peacefully protest even in the 20th century. Protest were big in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, some being successfull and some being not so peacefull, either way people then had a strong belief in their government and werent afraid to show it. In 1999 there was a protest against the WTO's ministerial conference in Seattle, also known as "The Battle in Seattle", consisting of 40,000 people. The result that came from the protest was increased exposure of WTO in US media and the creation of the Independent Media Center. This protest grew world wide once the WTO had been exposed and to this day these protests and demonstrations are still considered to be the most recent victory by protest in the US. What happened to our voices and our want to make a change? Is it that we have given up hope on our government or rather the people today just dont care as much?

  3. I think people did care, but needed encouragement , and motivation to protest. It may be "fear" that put them in silence, but it's great people have finally over come that fear. we need to be heard; without us there's no government.
Perhaps standing for what we believe in can help our government' and the economy. Now we have social networks like face book, twitter, and others to help us in getting the word out! There's no need for fear.
