Olbermann's original health care pitch

As I watched Mr Olbermann's appeal for a system 'against death' I was shell shocked. It was an appeal for health care that made me so very proud to be a Canadian. That Canadian's took on this fight (see blogg on Tommy Douglas) in the late 60's and won against politicians and medical interests who wanted to keep the system private. Do you as an adult citizen feel our system is worth fighting for? Are you aware of the arguments against our system? What steps are you ready to take to defend our system? Perhaps a system of 'choice' as claimed down south is what you'd like, if so are you ready to defend and take a stand for it? Make no mistake about it, these choices are coming, what will your response be? Here's Olberman ...

  1. It is amazing that we here these types of stories and feel bad but in the end do nothing. I guess we do nothing because we arent directly affected, we seem to react instead of antisipate what is coming and sometimes- most of the time reacting is to late. We have a system in Canada that although isnt perfect it still very good. We as Canadians get what we need in health care. Now obiviously we are not perfect there are definatly things that have to be tweeked or changed for the better good of society(not in the money makers eyes but truthfully in the eye of the people) But why is it that we have done nothing to stop what is slowly happening here on our front door step. We are being told by our government here that the privatization will help us in the long run and be better for us. We need not to look far only across our border to the US to see that this system doesnt work. For fricken sakes they themselves in America are trying to get away from that type of privatization of health care. Why is it that we are miles ahead of america in Health care and we are deciding to put the car into reverse and change and destroy all the proggess that we have achieved from the very day this thought of public health care started with Tommy Douglas in the late 60's. My point is lets stop the train of privatization of health care now before it picks up in momentum and becomes just as hard for us to stop as it is for the americans to stop right now.
