This blog is a result of many students wishing to delve into topics lightly discussed due to curricular demands but would like to investigate further. I am fortunate to teach students who want to challenge conventional wisdom and seek further discourse as a way to empower themselves to help shape the world they live in.

Ahhh the good ole days, pay the doc with chickens
Yes indeed there was a time when we 'bartered' for our care. Maybe we should do that again! How do people who run for office even think of this as a possibility? Will the suppliers, nurses, secretary's, etc. accept a few as payment from the doctor? Hmmm, maybe this is the solution to the growing burden of health care costs in Canada? I would like to use a couple of colorful metaphors about now but I'll hold off...for now! Maybe I'm just being too hard on this political wanna be click here to be uh hum amazed!

After being called a bum today, i almost feel like i have to say something.
ReplyDeleteI think she's full of crap, that was the stupidest comment to make about chicken but i know thing, if she ever be comes a senate, the chicken are in trouble.
Thanks to her i wont be able to eat chicken for a week, because will never know.
I do not agree (obviously) with this crazy lady! What kind of a comment is that....you can barter with your doctor?! Why would anyone feel safe or confident bartering for health care? Health care should not be a privilage, it should be a right....and just because I have more chickens than you definately shouldnt mean I get treated first, faster or better. Bartering WOULD NOT WORK! Maybe it did back in the day when there was no running water, Walmart, the internet, but this isnt back in the day. We dont ride horses or farm chickens...we go to work and school and I dont know about you, but just because I need medication or an annual check, shouldnt mean I would have to drag a cow into the office!
