This blog is a result of many students wishing to delve into topics lightly discussed due to curricular demands but would like to investigate further. I am fortunate to teach students who want to challenge conventional wisdom and seek further discourse as a way to empower themselves to help shape the world they live in.

The rise of right wing populism ... silences us all
In this article from out world, there is a notion that it is the job of the right to criticize and nullify facts from what we would call mainstream schools of thought. That is to say, that we are caught but emotional responses to what seems to be fact based intellectual discourse from what I call the 'loony bin' folks like Fox's Glenn beck. It's a few pages long but for those willing to take the plunge, have a look and send me an email response, TY. This also puts into my mind a short political satirical political video sent to me by a former student (tyvm Ethan S.)that captures some of the articles sentiment, it's hilarious and can be found here.

There have been rumours that Beck will soon be done with Fox. I am hoping at least one extreme lunatic isn't on a major broadcasting station (though Fox has a lot more problems than just the prescence of Beck), even if he, most unfortunately, has a large following outside of his Fox viewers. In good news though, his ratins have been plummeting this year, and who recently beat him out? Rachel Maddow. Always nice to hear.
ReplyDeleteI guess the amount of ignorance that rises from the group of individuals who believe Fox News is the only news broadcasting station to trust...well, it frightens me, and I can only hope they become a very tiny minority as the years pass.
