Friends of medicare

As we discussed in class, here is the link you'll need if you want to investigate the issue of health care and privatization. The 4 minute video you will find on this page will give you a sense of what path the Friends of Medicare believes the new Alberta Health Act will take. Do view the video and read the report on the Health Care Act or seek out other perspectives on the direction health care seems to be taking. For a list of the five principles that guide health care, take a look here. Looking forward to reading your responses.

  1. The number one thing that has defined use different from the United States has always been our way of governing, especially when it comes to Health care. Tommy Douglas was an honorable man who fought with every bone in his fiber to make health care universal. But what would he say now if he were to come back and witness what people; cats, are trying to do. Our government is trying to rob us of our universal right, by trying to privatize health care in Canada, in Alberta. What’s at stake the most is people’s equality. As soon as private health care exists, some are going to get better health care then others. How selfish is it to put money over health care? To this day we have a problem with the gap between the rich and the poor, and by privatizing health care we are only going to further expand this gap. The government’s job I believe is to take care of its people, by providing health and education. If the problem with our health care system now is its productiveness, then why don’t we use our tax dollars to fix it? Because isn’t that the reason why we have taxation? If people do not act fast with prevention of this outrageous demand, then we people are to blame.
