Nothing like a good rant ... or is there?

This link is curiosity of Caitlyn M. and what a good one it is. It is easy to right this guy off as a psycho but examine history and how this type of energy has been harnessed in the past. Love to hear your thoughts on this.

  1. Why does the idea of communism cause so much fear? This clipis just one example of how some people are willing to kill to prevent communism even though its basic principles seem healthier than a system based on competition and profit ...

Usually when we talk about communism we also talk about totalitarianism (for example the Nazis). But there are other kinds of communism. Earlier this summer I was reading about the Hutterites in Canada today and I think that when we talk about communism we should remember its peaceful forms as well as its violent ones. Every Hutterite colony has 60 to 160 people who are assigned differnent roles, so everyone works (mostly agriculture) and there is enough produced for everyone. The Hutterites share all their possessions and elect their own colony government. Education is provided although they have to leave the colony if they want to go to university.

The Hutterites are not perfect. For example, their religious views mean that homosexuality and other social identities are less accepted by them than by mainstream Canada. What would be closer to perfect is a society that functioned in similar ways but without such strong presence of religion, or a group/party that basically becomes its own religion (eg. Nazi party in Germany).

We could start by looking at the non-totalitarian aspects of communism that exists today in our own country!
